About Roberto
I’ve served on the college faculties of both TiempoMusica and Fermatta in Mexico City, and as a graduate teaching assistant at Hunter College, NYC. In addition, I have presented masterclasses and community engagement concerts at 16 different colleges within the National Polytechnical Institute in Mexico City. For me, teaching is all about helping students turn what at first seems impossible into something that can be easy. In lessons, we experiment to find creative solutions together. I have taught guitar enthusiasts ages 3 to 75, beginners to undergraduate levels and have frequently worked with neurodivergent students, developing custom curricula to explore pathways to discovering more joy in music. We play repertoire that spans five centuries by composers such as Savio, Weiss, Sanz, Giuliani, and Kraft — demystifying the composer’s intent and discovering the story behind the music.
What I’m looking for is the “A-Ha” moment in my students: when their eyes light up and a concept or explanation really hits home. I’m focused on unlocking their motivation and curiosity—that’s everything.
