About Cat

My name is Cat, I am an autistic woman in arts and technology. I got my Bachelor's in Theater Lighting Design, having chosen theater as my full-time career. But I come from extensive schooling in the fine arts, for 6 years I studied drawing and painting techniques, how to create any kind of art with any type of material. I can photographically draw a portrait and spit my emotions onto canvas and I call it art all the same. While I drew that portrait each dark shading inspires anger and each soft stroke inspires calm. I believe in meaning behind everything I do as an artist, each decision holds memory and each grip of the pencil has feeling.

About the lesson

I want you to have an individualized plan. As an autistic woman I understand we all learn differently and our goals vary from person to person. We will begin by understanding your personal and academic goals. Do you want to be good at drawing, do you want your art to hold deeper meaning, do you need help understanding color? Whatever it is let's figure it out and from there we will appropriately approach that goal. If you wish to find deeper understanding of your art, to have a more personal connection, we will explore the various ways to express your feelings towards the subject you would like to depict by creating mood boards. To understand what techniques work best for you we will explore materials and methods in creating proportion, shading, depth, and color. Being an artist is not just about how real can you make that vase look, it is about the journey you took in creating that vase.
