About Peter
I am a passionate pianist who first learned when I was younger before returning to piano later in life. Music has always been deeply meaningful to me, and I now enjoy performing for audiences. I offer patient, encouraging lessons for beginners and aim to help each student build confidence while discovering the joy of music.

My lessons are friendly, patient and tailored to each student’s pace, confidence and musical goals. I focus on building strong foundations while keeping lessons enjoyable and encouraging.
My core method is The Older Beginner Piano Course by James Bastien, which I originally learned from myself. I also use Alfred’s Basic Adult Piano Course by Willard Palmer, Morton Manus and Amanda Vick Lethco, as well as Adult Piano Adventures All-in-One Piano Course by Nancy and Randall Faber.
Lessons may include posture and hand position, note reading, rhythm, scales, technique, sight-reading and learning enjoyable pieces. I explain concepts clearly and use demonstrations, repetition and practical exercises to help students understand rather than simply memorize.
A typical one-hour lesson may include a warm-up, reviewing previous work, introducing a new concept or piece, rhythm and theory exercises, and setting achievable practice goals for the week.
My lessons are designed mainly for adult beginners and older beginners who are starting from scratch, returning to piano after many years, or wanting to develop their confidence.

I now perform for audiences at the QVB, Northern Beaches Hospital and retirement villages, and I bring that practical performance experience into my teaching.
