About Gil
I am a Research Engineer at a medical devices company in Swindon. I have a PhD in materials science from Imperial College London and extensive expertise in biology, chemistry and maths. Having supervised undergraduate and masters students in the past 5 years, as well as taking part in a range of outreach activities, I would like to expand my tutoring experience with students at different levels.

My teaching style is very interactive and engaging. My experience has taught me that people learn more efficiently when they are given the chance to incrementally test their knowledge and hypotheses in an active discussion. Plus, I like to tailor the class around the student's program.
I give science lessons to students on year 11 or above, as well as undergraduate, masters and doctoral students (on specific topics).
A normal lesson would start with a 15-minute overview of the relevant topic/aspects to obtain a better of understanding the shortcomings and needs of the student. We would then transition into a more detailed breakdown of different points, with practical demonstrations and exercises, where the goal is two-fold: to improve the student's working knowledge, but also to give them confidence that they have the tools necessary to keep progressing.
