About Iain
I am a Southampton University undergraduate studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Having done Maths tutoring on a friends and family basis, I am now looking for more paid tutoring work. GCSE's can be a very stressful time, especially if Maths is a struggling point as it can play a crucial role in many other subjects. With one to one tutoring, this stress can be reduced and can enable students to gain confidence in their mathematical abilities.

Success in GCSE and A-level Maths both at higher level and foundation is linked to confidence. Confidence is easy to restore with one-to-one tuition, where I can work at a student's pace with gentle encouragement, clear explanations and appropriate examples. Relative to most tutors it was quite a short time ago that I myself was sitting Maths exams, so I know that students often need someone who can identify what they may find hard, and when to speed up and or slow down. Patience and praise are important, so that students feel comfortable to ask questions and develop deeper understanding.
