I approach ESL tutoring as a conversation between participants explaining unknown concepts to eachother. I break down the concept into basic elements that are easily understood, then provide examples in context and lead the learner to come up with examples and contexts themselves. Once the building blocks are in place, I make use of role-playing and follow that with real world interaction activities.
