About Eemaan
My name is Eemaan and I’m an English Student and UCL, and if you had told me at 15 that I would be studying English at university I would have laughed in disbelief. I was never a fan of writing essays and analysing texts and my belief was that the words on the page were never that deep. Turns out with a little encouragement from an English teacher, I found that words actually were pretty deep, and the intricacy of language was such a rich world.
This encouraged me to study English at A-Level, then for my degree. I know English is not for everyone, and if analysing language does not come naturally to you, writing essays on that language is undoubtedly difficult.
After teaching my younger sister during her experience with GCSE English I realised that I enjoyed tutoring English and that working with younger people to feel more confident in their English ability was very rewarding. I have worked with children and volunteered in many different ways, like volunteering to help at a youth club at a local community centre and being an Art Mentor as an A-Level Student for those doing GCSE Art. I am starting as a paid tutor but I believe I have the ability and the insight to help people achieve grades in English that you otherwise might not have

I can offer:
- Weekly 1 hour online sessions personalised to your needs
-Help and support with both English Literature and Language for GCSE students
- Support in understanding and analysing set texts as well as how to tackle unseen texts
- Sessions dissecting and breaking down exam mark schemes and giving advice on what examiners will be looking for.
- Breakdowns on each exam and each essay within it, how to manage time effectively and write intriguing well-rounded essays on any theme given
- Marking and giving feedback on essays written in school and at home and timed practice exams if necessary
Offer non-judgemental sessions on how to improve technique through practice and feedback, guiding you through areas you might find challenging and the techniques and advice that helped me achieve a level 9 in English Literature and Language, and go on to achieve an A in A-Level English.
I have experience working with children and young people at a community centre and have tutored family members for GCSE English. These tutoring sessions are not about perfection but rather, improvement and to help alleviate the stress of doing well in one of your core GCSE subjects.
