About Alisha
My name is Alisha Valenzuela but my students call me Dr. V. I earned my Doctorate from Lynn University and my MFA in Creative Nonfiction from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. I have been a high school English teacher for more than 20 years and have taught at Palm Beach State on and off since 2004. I started as a college professor, but decided to teach high school students because I wanted students to have a teacher that not only taught them how to think critically, and write analytical essays, but also someone that cares and is there for them. Unfortunately, growing up I didn’t have the best home life, but I did have that one teacher that cared about me and because of her, I went to college. I was and still am the only person in my family to attend college and earn a degree. Students deserve to have someone that listens to them and understands how they learn, because there is not a one size fits all method that works.
