About Adriana
I am quite a diverse individual and have spent the past ten years of my life working across diverse industries. Several of those years were spent working as a Coordinator providing Education Support for Primary Aged Students in Melbourne's Western Suburbs. As an online student studying a Bachelor of Arts (English, History and Classical/Languages), Bachelor of Primary & Secondary Education and a Diploma of Library and Information Services, my passion lies in the diverse area of Humanities. In addition to my background in Education, I have also worked within a non-profit/Community Services organisation and with animals - particularly horses.

During my time as a Coordinator for an OSHC Program in several schools, I developed a keen understanding of the Curriculum expectations within each School, State and Australia. Guided by the Framework and Standards outlined by ACECQA, I actively established daily programs based on the developmental and educational needs of each individual child. In addition to English tutoring and Literacy development, History is another one of my passions.
Areas I cover include Medieval History, Colonial US/Australian History (including Indigenous/First Nation), Contemporary European, Hot/Cold Wars, Socialism (Communsim/Stalinism) and Classical (Ancient History) etc.
In the past and present, I plan my lessons in advance by discussing the child or youth's educational or development needs and establishing a detailed lesson plan prior to the session. I believe in adapting Curriculum expectations in order to encourage an interest for personal development, rather than recycle the same material for each student and promote disinterest. One such way I do this is encourage active and casual discussion based on certain key areas of their Curriculum, whether it is about History or English and so on. I provide and develop customised resources based on their interests, so that it caters to their personal interests in addition to their academic requirements.
After lessons, I ask the student to reflect on what they have learnt, or may have struggled with. Feedback from the child allows me to adapt my methods to suit their needs more effectively and it allows me to use such observations and reflections to further benefit their development.
