About Ivan

I have played chess since childhood, but really took it up seriously in 2016. I have competed for Lewisham Chess Club in the ECF, reaching a maximum rating of 142. In teaching, I have had 5 1-on-1 students in the last 2 years and have helped them improve their understanding of the game, as well as their ratings on online platforms such as lichess and chess.com. My approach is very client-oriented, as I love chess and like to see players develop.
If you are looking for a professional chess coach, that is not me, as I don't have the chess skill to be or teach at Master level and beyond.

About the lesson

I base my classes on assessing what is the student starting point, goals, and how much time they can invest. I usually have taught 1-on-1 students, in order to be able to concentrate on their development. I am good at keeping beginners interested in the game, without sacrificing quality of teaching.

My chess game has massively improved since taking lessons with Ivan. He’s a fantastic, paitent teacher and has a great eye for identifying my weaknesses. Other than being a great and natural teacher, he makes playing chess so much fun and brings a lovely sense of humour. Would recommend Ivan to anyone wanting to learn or improve their game whatever level, and doing so in a friendly and comfortable environment :)
