About Jo
I am a dedicated flute tutor with 12 years of experience, teaching High School, College, and adult students. During this time, I have taught 150-200 students, guiding them through the challenges and joys of learning music. My teaching approach combines patience, encouragement, and real-life examples to make lessons engaging and effective.
One of the highlights of my career was helping a student who struggled with self-confidence deliver an outstanding performance at their first recital. It was inspiring to see their growth, determination, and joy. I focus on creating a supportive, motivating, and personalised learning environment where students can thrive.
My goal is to help students not only master the flute but also enjoy the process, express themselves creatively, and develop skills that last a lifetime. Teaching is my passion, and every student’s success brings me immense satisfaction.

I follow a student-centred approach to teaching flute that emphasises understanding, practice, and creativity. Using real-life examples and case studies, I make musical concepts relatable and easy to apply. I focus on motivation, inspiring students to explore music with confidence and enthusiasm.
Problem-solving is an important part of my teaching. I guide students to navigate technical and musical challenges independently, improving both skill and self-reliance. Integrity is a core principle, fostering discipline, honesty, and respect in all lessons. My methodology is flexible, allowing me to adapt lessons to each student’s learning style, pace, and goals.
Alongside flute, I also teach music theory and fundamentals to provide a well-rounded understanding. My lessons are designed to be enjoyable, productive, and tailored to each student’s needs, helping them develop confidence, skill, and creativity.
