About Oliver
I am a trainee mathematics teacher and former teaching assistant, specialising in research-informed strategies to improve exam performance.
I place a strong emphasis on building confidence, particularly for students who experience maths anxiety. By creating a supportive environment and breaking problems into clear steps, students learn to approach unfamiliar questions calmly and pick up valuable method marks — often the difference between key grade boundaries (e.g. 4–5 or 6–7).
I also have extensive experience supporting neurodiverse learners, including students with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia and Dyscalculia, adapting my teaching to suit each individual.
I look forward to helping you (or your child) feel confident and fully prepared for exams.

My approach is simple and highly effective: I use short, carefully designed diagnostic questions to identify specific misconceptions (for example, not just “struggles with algebra”, but “forgets BIDMAS when working with algebraic fractions”). This allows us to target gaps precisely and make rapid progress.
Each session follows a clear structure: diagnose → model → practise → apply to exam-style questions. This ensures students not only understand the method, but can confidently use it under exam conditions.

My lessons with Oliver have been so helpful. I was stuck at a grade 7 because I found the questions at the back of the paper so stressful and confusing. We have been focussing on those specifically and what to do when I don't see the first step to a question straight away. It has been so useful for me and Oliver has been really good about working with me even when I'm having a stress spiral about my exams. I now think an 8 or even a 9 are within reach and I have felt a lot more clear headed when revising in general. Can't recommend him enough.
Oliver is a great tutor. I don't really like maths but he has been really helpful with making it make sense. His explanations are clear and he breaks it down into steps that make it feel much simpler. I have found I perform much better in past papers at the topics we have gone over than the ones we haven't looked at yet.
