About Taryn

I have 11 years of experience teaching Excel to students, professionals, and learners who want to strengthen their digital and analytical skills. I earned a B.Sc in Business Analytics, which provided me with a strong foundation in data interpretation, reporting, and modern spreadsheet applications. This background allows me to teach Excel not only as a technical tool, but also as a skill that supports decision-making, productivity, and professional growth. Over the years, I have worked with learners from many different fields, helping them gain confidence in managing information effectively.

My teaching style is calm, structured, and highly supportive. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and practising without fear of mistakes. I explain features step by step, using real examples such as budgeting, business tracking, academic projects, and workplace reporting. I want learners to understand the logic behind formulae rather than memorising steps, because true confidence comes from understanding.

Outside of tutoring, I stay engaged with Excel through continued learning in data tools, dashboard design, and productivity systems. Teaching Excel is meaningful to me because it empowers learners with a skill they can immediately apply in real life. Watching students grow from uncertainty into confidence with spreadsheets is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

Excel becomes truly powerful when students realise it is more than just a place to enter numbers—it is a tool for organising information, solving problems, and making clear decisions through data. In my lessons, I guide learners through spreadsheet fundamentals, formulae, logical functions, formatting techniques, and efficient workflows that make work faster and more accurate. I focus on building confidence step by step, ensuring that students understand not only how to use a feature, but also why it matters in real tasks. Each session is designed to feel practical, supportive, and directly useful for school, business, or professional development.

Lesson structure is always adapted to the learner’s current level. Beginners learn data entry, cell referencing, basic formulae, and clean table design. Intermediate learners develop strong skills in IF statements, VLOOKUP, conditional formatting, chart creation, and error checking. Advanced learners explore pivot tables, dashboards, automation with macros, and data analysis methods used in workplaces. Every class includes guided practice, clear explanations, and feedback that strengthens long-term ability.

Excel lessons also help students build broader skills such as organisation, attention to detail, and analytical thinking. Over time, learners feel more confident handling complex datasets, presenting information clearly, and solving tasks efficiently. My goal is to help students see Excel as a practical skill that opens doors in academics and careers, while making them feel capable and independent with technology.
