I encourage my students to discover themselves, to find their voices, and become the best communicators possible. It is fully hands-on, and participatory though no student is ever made to do anything they are unwilling to try. Many are shy and through drama games, voice techniques, dress-ups and improv they develop self-confidence, creativity and imagination. Respect, support, empathy, acceptance, trust and sharing are all part of the drama ethos. Group classes average $160 per 8-week term. Other students have high ambitions and are prepared to audition for the National Performing Arts Academies. Private or pair classes average $400 per 8-week term. 10% Earlybird discounts are offered in subsequent terms and there is a 5% discount for siblings or friends who enrol together.
From an early age, I trained in Speech & Drama with the WA Head Examiner of the Australian Music Examinations Board. I continued through to Teacher Diploma Level at the University of WA. After ten years as a journalist, I returned to my acting passion. Small groups of drama students and private lessons were offered in my home studio in Darwin. In the last decade, I have offered ensemble play journeys for awards for students aged from 10 to 15 years. Fledglings, 3 - 5-year-olds, have enjoyed discovering the joy of stories and acting. Older students have succeeded at solo performance awards and been accepted into WAAPA and NIDA. Adults also garner confidence in Public Speaking through Voice and Communication courses.
