About Julia
Hi! I’m Julia — an American data scientist turned statistician and epidemiologist with over a decade of working experience. I’m currently a research fellow with doctoral training in epidemiology and a strong background in infectious disease research. I’ve got expertise in stats, epidemiology, quantitative methods, and coding in R, Python, and SQL.
I hold an MSc in Analytics, a BSc in IT Management, and am completing my PhD in Epidemiology. I’m passionate about making complex ideas accessible, engaging, and even enjoyable. Whether you’re working through challenging concepts, applying methods to assignments, or refining your academic writing, I’m here to help you build confidence, develop practical skills, and unlock a deeper understanding of epidemiology and statistics.

I offer engaging, student-focused tutoring designed to build both confidence and genuine understanding in statistics and epidemiology. As a research fellow and epidemiologist, I support learners across all levels — from foundational concepts through to biostatistics, medical statistics, and advanced modelling methods such as regression, clustering, and classification. My lessons are centred on helping you truly understand the “why” behind the methods, not just memorise formulas. I emphasise practical application, guiding you through real-world examples so you can see how statistical principles are used in research. I also aim to make learning enjoyable and motivating, helping you feel more confident and even excited about the field. In addition to teaching core topics, I provide support with assignments, including detailed proofreading and feedback to strengthen both your analysis and academic writing. Whether you’re trying to grasp difficult concepts, apply methods correctly, or refine your work, I’m here to help you succeed and develop lasting skills.

Julia and I worked together as data scientists on the COVID-19 response at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and there was no one else I would have rather had with me in the thick of things.
She is one of the strongest quantitative scientists I know and one of the best teachers. She sets the bar for patience with new learners very high and meets people where they are in their learning journeys with enthusiasm, empathy, and relevant examples tailored to each learner. Julia also has enough technical skill that she can distill and explain even incredibly complicated concepts like Markov models with plain language and humor.
When I first joined the same team as Julia at CDC, she taught me how to use a software that she had 1) taught herself, and 2) had me able to support her competently over the course of a few hours. She was also incredibly generous with her time when I had the very most basic of questions. When she did not know an answer she was honest and when possible, she would connect me with other resources to learn more and we would learn something new together.
Julia is incredible and you would be so so so fortunate to have her as your epi professor.Julia is extremely knowledgeable about epidemiology, and she is very good at explaining complex topics. I highly recommend her
Julia is so passionate about stats and epidemiology that it’s infectious. She’s a great resource for anyone looking to learn core concepts, practice problems, and think through advanced methods.
Julia is an excellent tutor. I have no statistics background but she explains it in a clear and effective way without being patronising. She’s great to interact with and teaches with compassion and kindness.
She is very knowledgable about her subject and is incredibly supportive. Would recommended her to any student or professional needing supportView more recommendations
