About Henry

I am a cellist and cello teacher based in Finchley, N3. I have over 9 years experience teaching cello and have taught students from age 5-84.

I graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with Distinction and the Edwin Samuel Dove award and currently split my time between teaching, freelancing with professional orchestras in the UK and working as administrator at the Youth Music Centre in North West London.

I have an enhanced DBS check and am fluent in English and German.

About the lesson

I aim to make cello lessons fun and engaging, focusing on developing musical awareness and understanding and offering effective solutions to technical issues. I tailor lessons to individual students requirements and needs and aim to instil a sense of enjoyment and freedom in the students music making.

Lessons vary in length but are usually 45minutes- 1hour 30minutes in length. I encourage all students to bring a notebook to the lesson and I am happy to write lesson notes.

I have been teaching the cello in West and North West London for over 9 years. My experience as a teacher involves working with students from age 5-84.

I have prepared students for ABRSM grade exams, with many passing with merit and distinction.

Some of my students have won music scholarships to leading independent schools and Junior Conservatoire departments, have won gold medals at cello competitions and have been members of the National Children’s Orchestra.

Additionally I work as Administrator for the Youth Music Centre in North West London and have served as a Jury Member for the London Young Musician Competition.

I would be delighted to hear from students of all ages and abilities.
