About Isabelle

Hi Parents & Students,

My name is Izy and I’m an English teacher at Waverley Christian College.

I'm super passionate about English and I love helping students build the right foundations and skills to succeed in the subject.

My belief is that everyone can succeed in the subject if they're provided with the right tools, practice, and learning environment.

My goal is to create that tailored environment around students, to help create confident and engaged English learners and writers who are set-up for success in high school and beyond. I've worked with both primary and secondary students, including those who are gifted/ have learning needs.

I am encouraging, pro-active and have a genuine desire to motivate and foster students’ growth.

My name is Ms Ho, I'm an experienced and passionate primary & secondary English teacher.

Mastering English is an art craft, and my goal is to provide students with all the tools, resources, frameworks and the right mindset to excel at performing in the subject.

I bring a proactive and experienced approach to building the right skills, theories and approach to create confident learners who have all the right foundations in place to succeed.

I love teaching and working with students of all backgrounds, and my goal is to untap the potential in every student's learning no matter the hurdles or the challenges.

My Offering?

I currently offer face to face engaging and fun classroom programs for English across years 2 - year 10.

These small classes are built on fundamentals I believe are critical to English and writing.

My approach to teaching focuses on ensuring that students are given access to the highest quality resources, frameworks and approaches to the subject, whilst having a fun, engaging and personalised experience. Each program is tailored to the students needs, weaknesses and learning outcomes they are looking for.

About my English classrooms

Classes are kept small and ability based so that lessons can still be personalised, whilst inviting discussion and challenging students to have fun learning alongside their peers. The goal is to create an engaging peer learning environment where students can thrive on the discussion based nature of the subject to get the most out of each other.

Classes are all curriculum aligned and focus on developing the key skills and concepts needed to thrive at the given ability level of the student. For my VCE classes, they're aimed at preparing students to excel at preparing and performing in all SACs and final examinations.

My Approach

I ensure that all my sessions are engaging and interactive, and I focus on using all my experience to ensure students feel confident and empowered to take on different frameworks and approaches to learning. Each program is a well-rounded mix of theory, hands-on practice, discussion and individual work.

I conduct formative assessments and deliver clear insights on progress to both students and parents, to ensure that we're clear on what progress is being made and how we can continue to continuously improve the learning process.

The three pillars to my approach are:
- Focusing on all the right skills, concepts and frameworks
- Constant tailoring and formative assessments to maximise effectiveness of sessions
- Creating engaging and fun sessions to build confidence on top of skills

The goal is to create the optimal learning environment that allows the students to thrive and build their confidence and skills.

Classes are $30 - $40/hr and session times and length depend on subject, area of focus and year level.
