About Lucy
Currently based in Cambridge, I have worked as a maths teacher in schools for 3 years with experience of teaching maths and further maths A-level (specialising in statistics), Pre-U and International Baccalaureate, as well as GCSE level maths. I hold a maths degree and a PGCE from Durham University.
I believe that building confidence and motivation when working with students is key to unlocking their maths ability and I also believe that with self-belief and some hard work, success in maths is accessible to all!
With my experience of teaching in schools alongside my previous career in finance and also now teaching maths to apprentices studying for qualifications in data science, I also have a valuable insight into the utility of maths in the everyday and I am also passionate about passing this on as part of my tutoring too.

My lessons are a calm and safe space in which to build confidence and understanding of maths, where making mistakes is all part of the learning process and perseverance is celebrated.
I will tailor my teaching to the individual needs of the student and am able to provide explanation, worked examples, extra question practice - all as required and to fit individual needs.
I also take a particular interest in building up the confidence of the students I work with, since even the slightest anxiety can impact performance in maths. This is something I am really passionate about.
