About Basak

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication Design and a Master of Creative Arts from Deakin University in Melbourne. My creative practice focuses on drawing, painting, design, and contemporary art, with experience across exhibition, education, and professional creative projects.
I have curated and exhibited projects involving video art and installation at Phoenix Art Gallery, and my experimental short films and video art works have been shown at film festivals and on television. I have also worked professionally as a production designer and video editor on short films, web series, and for production companies and TV channels.
My professional experience includes working as part of a design team responsible for the creation of sets, props, costumes, and puppets for the National Australian Council Book Week Tour. I was awarded first prize in the Advertisement Branch (Commercial Film Script and Storyboard) at the 23rd Young Communicators Contest.
I have also worked as an intern at Arts Project Australia, supporting artists with intellectual disabilities by promoting their work and advocating for inclusive contemporary art practices.
For the past three years, I have worked as an Art, Design, and Animation teacher in Melbourne, teaching children of all ages as well as adults. My teaching approach focuses on creativity, experimentation, skill development, and building confidence through art. I continue to develop my own artistic practice alongside my work as an art teacher.

About the lesson

I offer engaging art lessons for children that combine creative practice with age-appropriate art history. Lessons are developed using references to important historical and contemporary artists and follow key art movements in an accessible way. Children are encouraged to create their own artworks while experimenting with ideas, materials, and techniques. All skill levels are welcome.
Each lesson is adapted to the child’s individual skills, interests, and learning pace. Students explore drawing and painting through a variety of materials, styles, and approaches, with guidance that supports confidence and creative growth.
By creating through experimentation and learning from artists’ references and art movements, children develop visual awareness, creative thinking, and a deeper understanding of art beyond technique alone. The overall focus is on building confidence, creativity, and a strong foundation in visual arts in a supportive and encouraging environment.
