About Baxter
Hi, I’m Baxter, an electric guitarist and passionate musician from Brisbane. Guitar has been a major part of my life from a young age, and over the years I have developed my skills through consistent practice, live performances, competitions, and ensemble experience.
I specialize in rock, hard rock, and heavy metal, with influences including Eric Johnson, Eddie Van Halen, Slash, Adrian Smith, Dave Murray, and Kirk Hammett. I have challenged myself with technically demanding pieces such as Cliffs of Dover, Eruption, and Creeping Death, which have helped develop my lead playing, speed, accuracy, phrasing, and overall musicianship.
I have experience performing both individually and as part of bands and ensembles, including competitive performances where I have achieved strong results. These experiences have taught me the importance of preparation, patience, confidence, and continuous improvement.
As a teacher, I aim to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and developing at their own pace. I understand that every guitarist learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to each student’s ability, musical interests, and goals.
Most importantly, I want students to enjoy playing guitar. Whether your goal is to learn your favorite rock songs, improve your technique, perform confidently, or simply have fun with the instrument, I want to help you become the guitarist you want to be.

My guitar lessons are focused on helping students become confident, expressive players while learning the music they actually enjoy. I specialise in rock, hard rock and metal guitar, but I can also incorporate blues, country and other styles depending on each student’s goals.
My teaching approach is personalised to each guitarist. Rather than giving every student the same lesson plan, I first look at their current ability, musical interests and goals. Lessons can cover chords, scales, riffs, lead guitar, improvisation, rhythm, technique, music theory and learning complete songs. For more advanced students, I can also work on techniques such as alternate picking, legato, tapping, bends, vibrato and developing speed and accuracy.
A typical lesson runs for around 30–60 minutes and combines technical exercises with practical playing so students can immediately apply what they learn to real music.
I am an experienced performing electric guitarist with experience in solo and band performances, competitions and live performance environments. I have achieved success in guitar competitions and have developed my playing through challenging repertoire including pieces by Eric Johnson, Van Halen, Metallica and other major rock artists.
My lessons are ideal for beginner to intermediate guitarists, particularly students interested in rock and electric guitar. Whether you have just picked up your first guitar or have already been playing for a few years, I will help you build strong foundations, improve your technique and become a more confident musician.
