About Amy
I have taught languages for many years, including French, Japanese, and Spanish at the high school and college levels. I also work with English as a Second Language and Accent Reduction. Many of my students have visited a country where the language they learned from me was spoken, and met with success in their interactions with native speakers. Some of my students went over as tourists, but I did have students who attended school in the country they visited, and they were able to handle daily life using their language skills. I place a great deal of emphasis on the necessary language skills we need to be able to get around town easily and handle daily life skills, such as ordering food in a restaurant or asking questions while shopping. We will also go over the culture and history of locations you might be interested in visiting so that all our experiences overseas can be positive.

¡Hola, amigos! ¿Cómo están? I offer Spanish lessons to adults seeking to learn Spanish for personal travel, business, or educational purposes. My approach to teaching is to use authentic materials and sources which offer exposure to the language as it is used in Spanish-speaking countries, and use those materials to dig deeper into the cultures and histories of the countries we are looking at. Spanish is an amazing language, and I have learned from my own experience that a knowledge of Spanish can open doors. I have been a language teacher for many years, and I love introducing my students to the words and sounds of a new language. My teaching style is student-centered and stress-free; I will help you get through the parts that are new and maybe strange and I'll be by your side all the way! I learned Spanish as an adult myself, and I know what adult learners need when learning a new language. We will start out by identifying your learning needs, and I will structure our lessons around those so you don't miss out on anything. You get to be in charge of what topics you want to learn, and in what order we'll learn them!
