TEACHING SKILLS -CURRICULUM PLANNING AND DELIVERY (6-12 ESL/AP/UP/CP/IELTS)
Staff, train, supervise, plan, and teach curriculum for the following subject studies as part of the Ontario Secondary and Post-secondary (Advanced Placement-AP) Provincial MOE Credit Curricula:
Language Arts (Primary, Secondary, and Post-secondary): English Language and Literature & Media/Communication Studies; ESL, OSSD Graduation Literacy Course Requirement and Secondary EQAO preparation; College EAP (College English for Academic Purposes); University Director of Tutorials for Post-Secondary Graduation Requirement
Language Performance Arts: English/ESL, Listening, Writing, Reading, and Speaking including Literature Analyses and Comprehension; Literacy and Language Conventions
Teach and tutor, Grades 6-8 “Growing Success” subjects in Academic English, Social Sciences, and Drama
Teach, advise, and tutor University 9-12/ESL, AP (Advanced Placement), College Preparation, and University Preparation Course Credits (Us and Ms) to International Adolescent and Mature Students (Ages 14-22) some of whom may already graduated high school in their respective countries but need College and/or University Prep credits to attend post-secondary schools in Canada;
Teach, advise, and tutor College English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at Seneca & Language Tutorials at the Laurentian University Undergrad Graduation Program Requirement in the areas of Critical Reading and Writing, Reading and Listening Comprehension, Advanced ESL Grammar, TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, and Michigan Test, and other university admission language tests.
As part of Communication and Media Strand plans and teaches debates, campaigns, press conferences and releases, source research, speech-writing and delivery, expositions, editorials, newspaper journals, reports, and articles; analyzing and creating in print visual and media works including creating a background with depth; creating a variety of emotions; using repeated images; using words and images in multiple ways and for multiple purposes; creating balance and symmetry; creating proportion, variety, and harmony with the emphasis on the focal message of a medium.
As part of Technical Writing Strand plans and teaches technical writing business documents, i.e., business plans and proposals (corporate direction), marketing plans (marketing mix -4Ps and 2Cs and ad campaigns in print; teach resume/cover letter writing, can-do documents, projects, portfolios, interviews, portfolio interviews, oral presentations, diagrams, worksheets, seminars, conference and meeting reports, memos, minutes/fax entries, report writing, research papers.
As part of English and ESL Reading Strand plan and teach reading strategies, reading for understanding, research strategies such as generating ideas (brainstorming) and taking quality reader's notes, (i.e., keywording, scanning, and skimming, classifying relevant and omitting irrelevant information and learning how to research documentation).
As part of English and ESL Literature Strand plans and teaches compositions including formal/informal essays & academic research papers, oral presentations, and literary criticism including in-depth interpretation and analysis of novels, novellas, short stories, dramas, poetry, and plays; discusses narrative styles and devices (figures of speech)
As part of English and ESL Mechanics Strand plans and teaches levels of language, parts of speech, and parts of sentences, tenses, sentence variety, errors, and rules of punctuation.
As part of Language & Performance Arts (DRAMA) plans and teaches lessons focusing on tone, voice, and purpose on paper, on stage, and in public speeches; how to communicate to writers and dramatic audiences with confidence, conviction, and persuasion; how to organize one's writing; how to methodically develop ideas and lend them credibility and clarity; how to formulate creative writing templates for short stories and poetry; dramatic and screenplays, including plot, character, and setting development; how to stage and direct high school plays and other public stage performances (such as public speeches, concerts, and ceremonies)
Canadian and World Studies: Canadian and World History; Canadian Law; Canadian Geography and Global Issues, Economic Issues and International Business Relations such as Marketing Business Plans and Branding; Career Studies and Work-place Industry Trends.
Social Sciences: Psychology, Anthropology, Archaeology, Sociology & Family Studies.
Humanities: Philosophy & World Religions and Classical Studies.
As part of Canadian and World Studies, Social Sciences and Humanities plan and teaches theories and practical uses of classical and modern thought including "global village" corporate communication trends, economic issues, and workplace industry trends; formal /informal essays & academic research papers, expository reports, scientific research, inquiry and methodology, oral presentations, criticism including in-depth interpretation and analysis of primary and secondary sources
As part of Career Studies and Work-place Industry Trends plans and teaches HR Recruitment policies such as identifying and matching one’s interests, skills, and abilities and MI (Multiple Intelligence) learning styles to the needs and demands of the workplace; resume writing, as well as screening, interviewing (i.e., behavioral), staffing and placement trends.
