About James

Experienced: I have taught Key Stage 4, IGCSE, and A Level mathematics since 2013 and have had over 1000 hours of lessons in international schools across China. I have also been tutoring GCSE mathematics since 2012. I have been trained to teach IGCSE and A Level mathematics by the Cambridge International Exams Board, as well as received a Certificate in English Teaching for Adults. During time in China, I honed my teaching skills and prepared a large range of resources for the IGCSE, A Level and Cambridge Checkpoint curricula.

Engaging: My lessons are very engaging for students, and I have many student-led activities to excite and enthuse students of all levels. For example, I will use investigative activities for students to discover new ideas for themselves before presenting the concept officially. This makes learning an interactive experience for students, rather than a passive one.

Empathetic: I am empathetic to the needs of students of all ability ranges, and will use many different activities for different learning styles. For example, students who prefer visual learning may take part in more sight-based activities, such as flashcards. While students who prefer auditory learning may take part in more hearing based activities.

I charge £35 an hour for A Level tutoring, £25 an hour for GCSE tutoring, and £20 an hour for pre - GCSE tutoring (i.e. Key Stage 1 - 4). I am willing to negotiate prices for clients who are close by.

James was always able to create a lesson appropriate to the age he was teaching while also being friendly, confident and patient with students.
