About Zahra
I've learnt over years of studying and 8 years of tutoring that the best results come from using a mixture of different revision techniques, rather than relying on just one approach. My passion for the sciences stems from a genuine curiosity about how the world works and why things are the way they are. I've been through the GCSE and A-level experience myself, so I know exactly what needs to be done - and what should be avoided - to get the best results.
I love asking questions to stretch my own knowledge, and I hope you won't be afraid to do the same. I'm organised and proactive, which I believe is key to keeping students on track and helping them truly understand new concepts, rather than just memorising them. My goal is to make you feel confident, supported, and genuinely curious about the subject - not just prepared to pass an exam.

Science at first seems difficult because of the complex concepts you have to learn, but I enjoy breaking them down into individual pieces so students can take them in more easily. I closely follow the exam specification for each science, since it clearly outlines exactly what you need to know, and I build lessons around it rather than teaching in a general or scattered way. Being organised - making timetables and a regular routine - helps ensure every spec point is covered and makes exams feel far less daunting. I also test regularly, which tracks progress and highlights the areas a student initially thought they didn't need to revisit. To truly succeed, students need to find ideas or concepts they find genuinely interesting and see how they apply to the real world; this contextualises the learning and stops it feeling like exams are a complete waste of time - extra reading around a topic helps with this too.
Lessons typically run for an hour, though I'm happy to adjust based on a student's focus and stamina, especially closer to exams when longer or more frequent sessions can help.
I hold a First Class BSc in Biomedical Sciences from Queen Mary University of London and an MSc in Data Science for Health and Social Care from the University of Edinburgh, giving me a strong grounding across biology, chemistry, and the data/statistical side of science. I currently tutor Biology, Physics and Chemistry to Cambridge IGCSE (CAIE) students, and I'm comfortable working with GCSE and IGCSE-level students across the sciences, tailoring my approach to each student's specification, exam board, and confidence level.
