Hello and welcome! I'm Jesse—a Freelance Musician and Teacher, specializing in guitar lessons, lead guitar performances, and music production. With a passion for creating and sharing music, I offer lessons tailored to your individual needs and goals.

Guitar Teacher
As a guitar lesson teacher, I cater to both beginners and intermediate players seeking to enhance their musical abilities. My teaching approach is centered around customizing each lesson to the student's individual needs and aspirations. Whether you're looking to learn a specific song, understand music theory, or simply enjoy playing the guitar, I'm here to guide you on your musical journey.

Lead Guitarist
Beyond teaching, I am the lead guitarist for the band Dead Pixels. We perform at various venues, handling all logistics from equipment transportation to setup and soundcheck. This experience has honed my skills in live performance and stage presence, which I am eager to share with my students.

Volunteer Performances
Music, to me, is not just about performance or learning; it's about giving back to the community. I regularly provide volunteer guitar performances for church services and events, sharing the joy and healing power of music with others.

Music Producer
In addition to live performances, I create original EDM and instrumental tracks for vocalists. Using various Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), synthesizers, and effects processors, I craft innovative beats, melodies, and soundscapes that capture listeners’ imaginations.

Songwriting
I also contribute to the songwriting process by composing guitar riffs, melodies, and harmonies that complement lead vocals and other instruments. My goal is to create music that tells a story, evokes emotions, and leaves a lasting impact on listeners.

About the lesson

I believe in a comprehensive and individualized approach to learning the guitar. My teaching method is tailored to each student’s unique needs, goals, and musical interests, ensuring that every lesson is engaging and productive.

My Teaching Methodology
My lessons are structured around three main areas of focus: Technique, Music Theory & Knowledge, and Intuition or Ear. By integrating these three components, I ensure our students not only understand what they’re playing and why it works but also develop the physical ability and intuitive sense necessary for effective guitar playing.

Each lesson begins with a review of the previous session’s material, which is documented and shared with the student on Google Docs for easy reference. If the student demonstrates a solid understanding of the reviewed material, we proceed to new topics. If not, we spend more time reinforcing the concepts until they are fully grasped.

Lesson Structure
Starting with basics like how to hold the guitar, finger pick or use a guitar pick, reading tablature, and memorizing the fretboard, we gradually progress to more complex topics such as intervals, major and minor scales, chords, scale shapes, alternate picking, strumming chords, and keeping rhythm.

Along the way, we incorporate songs chosen by the student to keep the learning process enjoyable and emotionally engaging. We understand that each student is unique, and we strive to balance the three key areas of learning while also introducing songs or topics that inspire them to keep playing.

Our teaching approach involves introducing topics from least to most complex, revisiting each topic for advanced explanations as the student progresses.

Whether you're a casual hobbyist or an aspiring band member, my lessons are designed to cater to all levels of interest and dedication. My ultimate goal is to make each student the best guitar player they can be, according to their personal aspirations.

An Example Lesson
A typical lesson might begin with a review of intervals, major scales, and the C major scale. The objective here is not only to have the students understand each topic individually but also to see how they connect.

Once the review is successfully completed, we will move on to a new topic, like major triads. I would explain what a triad chord is and how a major triad is built from the 1st, 3rd, and 5th notes of the major scale.
