About Alyssa

I am a guitar tutor with 4 years of experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory with a Guitar Specialization. My teaching integrates guitar technique, music theory, and production skills. I focus on audio engineering for guitarists, home recording, and tone shaping with effects pedals. Lessons cover microphone placement, basic mixing, and capturing the best sound from your instrument. I have helped students from Early Intermediate to Advanced Intermediate levels, including professional session players. My approach emphasizes creativity, practical application, and understanding how your guitar interacts with recording equipment. Each lesson is customized to individual goals, from composing to performing to producing tracks. Students learn to experiment with effects, refine tone, and gain confidence in recording at home. I incorporate exercises in recording, editing, and producing to build a professional workflow. Lessons are motivating, hands-on, and designed for tangible results. Together, we develop technical skill, musicality, and home studio proficiency. I aim to help students capture their artistry and elevate their sound to the next level.

About the lesson

I focus on helping guitarists read music confidently in any style or context. My lessons cover tablature, standard notation, rhythm notation, and sight-reading techniques. I use a step-by-step approach to build understanding gradually. Students learn to decode rhythms, read notes accurately, and apply patterns to the guitar. Lessons are tailored to individual goals, from classical to jazz to modern music. I integrate exercises in solo, duet, and ensemble playing to build practical reading skills. Students also learn phrasing, dynamics, and musical analysis alongside sight-reading. I emphasize regular practice, consistency, and patience to foster confidence. Exercises balance melody, harmony, and rhythm for a complete understanding. I provide tools to make reading intuitive, enjoyable, and applicable. Students gain the ability to sight-read efficiently and perform with accuracy. Together, we explore the world of written music and unlock the full potential of the guitar.
