About Holly
My musical journey blends deep academic training with years of high-energy performing, and I love sharing this diverse perspective with my students. I have over four years of teaching experience and hold a Bachelor of Music in World Music with a focus on global guitar traditions. However, my personal playing style is deeply rooted in high-energy genres like metal, speed shred, and progressive rock.
I am incredibly passionate about helping both young learners and adult students build blistering speed, absolute precision, and advanced shred techniques. In my studio, we break down complex concepts like sweep picking, alternate picking, and two-handed tapping into easy steps. I believe that playing fast requires a relaxed body and a highly disciplined practice routine to avoid strain.
I remember coaching a teenage student who wanted to play fast progressive solos but kept getting their pick stuck in the strings. We adjusted their picking angle and worked with a metronome to build up their coordination gradually from slow speeds. Within a few months, they were flying through challenging technical passages with total accuracy and ease.

"My lessons offer a practical and complete approach to guitar playing that goes far beyond just reading notes on a page. I focus heavily on essential ownership skills like guitar maintenance, string changing, and doing a basic instrument setup. We also explore the creative side of tone shaping by learning how guitar electronics work and how to set up effects pedals.
I enjoy working with casual players who love singing around a fire and musicians who lead weekly musical gatherings. For example, I recently helped a local player who was struggling with a muddy acoustic sound and constant string buzzing during their sets. We adjusted their guitar neck relief, picked the right string gauge, and dialed in an EQ pedal to make their tone crystal clear.
Understanding your gear inside and out builds incredible confidence and ensures you always sound your best during any performance. I will teach you how to troubleshoot minor instrument issues on the spot so you never have to worry about gear failure. My goal is to support you as you master your gear and take complete control of your signature sound.
We will work through hands-on demonstrations to make sure you feel entirely comfortable handling your own instruments. You will learn how to match your volume and tone perfectly to any room or group setting. Together we can make your guitar sound exactly the way you hear it in your head."
