About Michele

I’m Michele, a fully credentialed English teacher with 28 years of experience helping students build confidence and succeed in reading, writing, and test preparation. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English and Broadcast Journalism, a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English, and a Master’s in Education in Technology.
I love working with students of all levels, from those who need extra support to those preparing for advanced coursework. My lessons are structured, clear, and tailored to each student’s needs, so they not only complete assignments but also gain lasting skills in reading, writing, and critical thinking.
I focus on creating a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing their abilities. My goal is for every student to leave a session more confident, capable, and motivated than when they arrived.
With 28 years in the classroom, I understand what students need to succeed academically, and I partner with parents to make learning both effective and enjoyable.

Teaching Approach & Method
As a credentialed English teacher with 28 years of classroom experience, I believe students learn best when instruction is clear, structured, and supportive. I do not believe in busywork or vague explanations. Every lesson is purposeful, organized, and tailored to the student’s specific needs.
My approach is student-centered. I assess where the learner currently stands, identify gaps in understanding, and then build skills step-by-step with guided practice and real-time feedback. I break down complex concepts into manageable parts so students feel confident rather than overwhelmed.
A Typical Lesson
A typical session with me includes:
• A clear objective (students know exactly what they are learning)
• Direct instruction with modeling and examples
• Guided practice where we work through problems together
• Independent practice with immediate feedback
• A brief review to reinforce mastery
Whether we are analyzing literature, strengthening reading comprehension, preparing for exams, or proofreading academic writing, students leave each session with tangible skills you can apply immediately.
What Sets Me Apart
What sets me apart is experience and structure.
I have taught high school English for nearly three decades, including struggling learners, advanced students, and college-bound writers. I understand curriculum standards, grading expectations, and what teachers are actually looking for.
Students do not just “get help”. They build long-term skills in:
• Critical reading
• Analytical writing
• Grammar and mechanics
• Test-taking strategies
• Academic confidence
I also provide honest, detailed feedback that helps students improve quickly.
Who My Lessons Are For
My lessons are ideal for:
• Middle school and high school students
• Homeschool students needing structured English instruction
• Students preparing for exams or standardized tests
• College students needing proofreading and writing support
• Learners who want stronger reading comprehension and writing skills
Whether a student needs remediation, enrichment, or exam preparation, I adapt instruction to meet their level and goals.

Perfect! Michele is amazing. My son is working with her on essays and is starting some writing assignments. We have found Michele to be organized and upbeat. I would recommend working with Michele for any students looking to improve their advanced writing skills.
- Juan's son is great! He was activtely engaged in our sessions, took my suggestions, asked questions about both content and format, and worked diligently to make his "voice" heard in his paper.Michele's response :

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
After working with Michele on the English portion of the SAT, both of my children saw a noticeable jump in their scores. She showed them practical strategies for understanding passages, identifying what each question was really asking, and avoiding common mistakes. More importantly, they went into the test feeling prepared and confident instead of overwhelmed. The results spoke for themselves, and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking to strengthen their child’s SAT English performance.
As a parent of both a seventh grader and an eleventh grader, I can honestly say that working with Michele has made a noticeable difference in both of my children’s academic confidence and performance.
What impressed me most is how she didn’t just help with homework. She truly taught them *how to think*. Both of my kids learned how to break down a writing prompt step by step, gather and evaluate research, and turn their ideas into well-structured, thoughtful essays. My daughter, in particular, has grown so much in her ability to organize complex ideas and write with clarity and purpose.
With my seventh grade son, Michele went even further. She helped him develop essential study skills that he had been struggling with for years. She showed him how to use his planner effectively, stay organized, and actually keep track of assignments and deadlines. That alone has been a game changer for our household.
Michele is patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly skilled at meeting each student where they are while still pushing them to grow. I would highly recommend her to any parent looking not just for tutoring, but for real, lasting academic skill-building.
I have worked with Michele for the past 19 years and have consistently been impressed by her professionalism, dedication, and instructional expertise.
She sets high expectations for her students and pairs those expectations with effectively scaffolded support to ensure that all learners have the opportunity to succeed.
Very often, many of Michele's clients are preparing to apply for highly competitive universities, and those clients praise her ability to help them reach ambitious academic goals.
Michele IS the master class.
As a parent, I am happy to recommend Michele as a tutor. When we were looking for support for our middle schooler and two high school students, we needed someone who could adapt to very different ages, skill levels, and personalities, and she exceeded every expectation.
One of my children is in middle school and needed help building strong foundations in writing and study skills. Michele was incredibly patient, breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps and making sure there was true understanding. We saw a noticeable boost not only in grades, but in confidence.
For my high schoolers, the support has been just as impressive. Whether it’s writing, reading comprehension, or SAT preparation, lessons are always organized, challenging, and tailored to each student’s needs. My older two have become more independent learners, better at managing their time, and far less anxious before exams.
What truly sets Michele apart is her reliability and genuine investment in each student’s success. She communicates clearly and provides thoughtful feedback. She also creates a supportive environment where my kids feel comfortable asking questions.
If you’re looking for someone who is knowledgeable, dependable, and truly cares about helping students grow academically and personally, I wholeheartedly recommend Michele for both middle school and high school students.I originally hired Michele to work with my daughter in preparation of the PSAT. My daughter and I found her to be incredibly helpful, so they continued working together through not only her sophomore but her junior year in high school. Michele makes the content relatable and helped my daughter enjoy writing. She also taught my daughter tips to help with reading comprehension and organization which benefitted her in other classes as well. When our youngest gets to high school, we already know we want him to work with Michele too.
Michele has worked with my son, currently a junior in high school, as well as a number of the children of friends and acquaintances. She is always well prepared and engaging. She has helped my son tremendously. As a teacher myself, I have such respect for all she does for her students. The amount of time, energy, expertise and care she puts into the sessions with her students is unparalleled.
My son Reed worked with Ms. Michele in 8th and 9th grade. He struggled with writing essays, how to brainstorm, and structure them. Ms. Michele was patient and always gave Reed strong examples and support. She taught him how to break down prompts and taught him how to organize his thoughts. By the end of 9th grade Reed was getting A's on his papers, and the two of them focused on editing since he was able to write his papers on his own. This year he is a sophomore in advanced English. He has an A, and I thank Ms. Michele for her help.
