About Nathaniel

I fell in love with music long before I ever had proper lessons. I was originally self-taught—just curiosity, passion, and a piano I didn’t fully know how to use. I didn’t have the resources, the guidance, or the musical environment I wished for growing up, so I learned the slow way: through struggle, searching, and sheer perseverance. Every breakthrough I had felt earned, and every discovery lit a fire in me that has never gone out. I studied classical music performance at university with a specific focus on BAME composer and I spent a long time learning about Jazz, performing in ensembles, doing workshops during term time and held summer workshops and assisted workshop with some of the finest jazz musicians Because of that journey, teaching became a calling. I started sharing what I’d learned, not only in the classroom, but online through my YouTube channel, which gained over 150,000 views helping people around the world understand piano, harmony, and theory. Seeing learners grow, whether they were down the street or across the globe, confirmed something I deeply believe: music education should be accessible to everyone.

About the lesson

We focus on building a strong harmonic foundation, exploring rich chord voicings, and learning to improvise with clarity, confidence, and musical purpose. Using principles inspired by the Barry Harris improvisation and harmony approach, we break complex concepts into simple, practical steps that immediately apply to real music. In each lesson, you will: Develop harmonic awareness and chord fluency Learn voicings that open up colour and movement in your playing Build improvisation skills through clear melodic and rhythmic ideas Apply techniques directly to tunes, standards, and your own music Develop the ear, not just the hands—so you understand what you play
