About Jesse
Hi everyone! My name is Jesse. I’m from the city of Vancouver in beautiful British Columbia, Canada, but I’m currently living just outside of Bangkok in Samut Prakan, Thailand. I hold a 120-hour TEFL certificate and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in Language and Culture from Kwantlen Polytechnic University. I graduated in 2020 as the top-ranked arts student in my academic cohort. I began my writing career as an intern for a magazine in China over three consecutive summers during my university years, and I was a regular contributor to the school newspaper from my first year until graduation. During my time in China, I also taught English at the Canadian International School of Guangzhou in the evenings. Among a multitude of job titles, I have since worked as a writer and editor for multiple web and print publications, with the bulk of my savings put towards as many international adventures as I can afford. My passions include travel, cycling, and photography, and over the past three years, I’ve done three long-distance cycling trips. Most recently, I completed a 7,000-kilometer loop of Southeast Asia, beginning and ending in Bangkok I studied Spanish and Mandarin Chinese in university, and I’m now in the early stages of my Thai language learning journey, so I fully understand the challenges, rewards, and effort required to learn a new language. As for writing, I believe it's a skill that one can never cease to improve upon. For me, it's a love/hate relationship with the written word, but ultimately a labor of love. I can't promise that you'll learn to love writing, too, but I can guarantee you'll see consistent improvement.
