About Yinghe
Hello everyone, 大家好（Da Jia Hao)! My name is Erika, a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese with a degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL). It is my sixth year in London and I have been teaching Mandarin to different age groups (from 5 years old until 60s) since I was in the university in China. I am always passionate about teaching Chinese and able to tailor my lessons and teaching methods based on each student's individual need and make sure the lessons are engaging and effective by using different mediums such as games, videos, literatures, current news etc.
On the basis of the HSK standard structure (official Chinese Proficiency Test), my focus of teaching would be switching according to different age groups.
- For beginners at young age, I would focus more on developing their interests by designing topics which will include contents relevant to daily life so they can find that the language they learn will be more useful than they expected.
- For children at school age or adults who need to pass tests, I would follow certain text books with extending learning and practicing materials provided to ensure they lay solid foundation and also succeed on their targeted tests.
- I did have adult student who wanted to challenge on ancient Chinese so we studied together on the Chinese ancient literature they were interested in.
