My first rule in teaching/tutoring any concept: I need to know it very well myself. My second rule: be confident and patient with my student. If I see that it is hard for the student to comprehend the concept, I should explain it differently or check what prerequisite(s) is missing. Then I need to explain that prerequisite first.

I explain each concept in a great detail with numerous examples until the student will grasp it.The main idea is to focus on logic and proof rather than on pure memorization.
