About Feranmi

Hi, I’m a Mathematics and Statistics student who has always enjoyed problem-solving and understanding how maths works beyond just formulas. I want to teach because I enjoy helping others overcome challenges and gain confidence in their abilities.

Having studied maths at a high level, I understand that topics can sometimes feel difficult or overwhelming. My goal is to make lessons clear, engaging, and tailored to each student, helping them not only improve their grades but also develop a genuine confidence in mathematics.

About the lesson

I take a student-centred approach to tutoring, focusing on building a deep understanding of mathematical concepts rather than relying on memorisation. Every lesson is tailored to the individual student's strengths, areas for improvement, and learning goals. I encourage students to explain their reasoning, work through problems independently, and develop the confidence to tackle unfamiliar questions - an essential skill for success in the IB curriculum.

My teaching combines clear explanations, guided practice, and regular exam-style questions. I break down complex topics into manageable steps before gradually increasing the level of difficulty. I also place a strong emphasis on exam technique, showing students how to communicate their mathematical reasoning clearly and avoid common mistakes that cost marks.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, although I also offer 90-minute sessions for students preparing for exams or covering more challenging topics. Each lesson includes a review of previous material, focused teaching on the topic of the day, and plenty of opportunities for students to apply what they have learned through worked examples and past-paper questions.

I am currently studying Mathematics and Statistics at university, where I have developed a strong foundation in calculus, algebra, probability, and statistics. My academic background allows me to explain concepts from multiple perspectives and help students connect school mathematics with higher-level mathematical thinking. I specialise in IB Mathematics (Analysis & Approaches and Applications & Interpretation, SL and HL) and continually keep up to date with the syllabus and assessment style.

My lessons are designed primarily for IB Diploma Programme students studying Mathematics AA or AI at both Standard and Higher Level. I also welcome motivated students preparing to transition into the IB programme or those looking to strengthen their mathematical foundations before starting university-level study.

My aim is not only to help students achieve higher grades, but also to develop the confidence, problem-solving skills, and mathematical intuition that will benefit them long after their exams.
