About Elle

I am a first-year medical student with a pronounced interest into contemporary research utilising the beneficial therapeutic effects of exosomes and the implementation of iPS in providing promise for the future prevention of ischemic heart disease.

Originally it was my preeminent ambition to study physics at university, however, following earnest and deliberate reflection I admitted to myself that instead I am craving an exigent and invigorating career as a doctor, aspiring to become a paediatric surgeon. However, I maintain a resounding intrigue into the amalgamation of these two disciplines, and of the exciting innovations at the intersection of these two fields.
As a patient and holistic tutor, I have been teaching students for the past three years in preparation for their I/GCSE A-Level and University Admissions Assessments. My students have gone on to achieve marvellous results but more importantly have come away from our lessons with a veritable understanding of the material we have covered, being able to apply this more broadly within their studies.
I offer IGCSE and A-Level tuition predominately in:
- Mathematics (and Further Mathematics)
- Physics
- Biology
- Chemistry
but additionally I can prepare GCSE level lessons for English Language and Literature.
As a native English speaker, currently working towards my TEFL certification, I additionally offer conversational and written English lessons for everyone from beginners to those wanting to improve and expand their appreciation of the language.

Admittedly, I have ample experience and insight into the university application process for many competitive Oxbridge and Russell Group universities, and for the often perturbing format of many pinnacle admissions assessments (including the UCAT, BMAT and Oxford PAT). I am also accustomed to the very confounding US university application process as a UK student.
Additionally, I can offer guidance to students aspiring to follow such competitive pathways and can assist with admissions test preparations, personal statement reviews, workshops on essay writing skills and practise interviews.
Personally, I was home-educated from the age of 13, during which period I engaged in a great deal of self-directed independent learning. I achieved straight 9s/A*s at IGCSE and five A* at A-Level. Consequently, I have since researched and tested the most effective studying techniques to maximise one’s memory retention and understanding in a sustainable and time-efficient format. I believe that I have a unique perspective into the advantages and shortfalls of home-education through seeing it from both sides, and possess a unique perspective to guide students who wish to follow a similar pathway.
In my spare time, I am the Deputy News and Careers Editor for the JYI, an international peer-reviewed undergraduate journal. I adore literature in addition to innovative science publications, striving to produce articles on topics that interest me covering everything from small cell lung cancer to the James Webb Space Telescope.
Previously, I have engaged in a myriad of work experience, voluntary and research placements in preparation for higher education. I can happily discuss these with students who are actively seeking positions to enhance their super-curricular engagement.
Wonder is the inception of all wisdom; a statement which enlivens me to ever question my reality and surrounding environment in order to enhance my personal understanding. I maintain an unfaltering ambition to share an appreciable collection of beguiling erudition with all of my students.

Please feel free to contact me for any further information or with any queries you may have. I additionally know of alternative tutors I can recommend who may be better suited to your needs.
I hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate which I can provide if required.

I am an experienced, patient and versatile tutor who specialises in tailoring tuition to the individual needs of my students. I have taught students privately for just over three years in preparation for their I/GCSE, A-Level and University Admissions Assessments, predominately in the sciences. My teaching methodology is extremely flexible, depending on the student’s personal learning style.
I realise within education there is a profound deficiency; being the acute lack of tutors who actually comprehend the difficulties that students face. I am familiar with the seemingly endless tedium of continuous assessments and of the hoops one is tasked with jumping through in order to realise their potential.
Candidly, I comprehend that it is not one’s IQ but rather their intrinsic passion and motivation that are the pinnacle to their individual success. I strive to understand each of my students and discover their personal interests, from which I can structure a foundation suited to their unique learning style. By encouraging students to take ownership of their own learning, my students begin to see their worth and potential as their knowledge develops.
Giving greater power to pupils over their education allows them to become more aware of their personal strengths, which translates to foster a greater overall confidence.

I structure my lessons using a first principles style approach, and prioritise forming connections to other academic domains which students may already be familiar with. I appreciate there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ pedagogy, each student should be seen for their own merits. I help to prepare my students with examination style questions, past papers, essay writing skills, support for catch-up due to COVID, personal statement reviews, university admissions guidance and home-education advice.
In my lessons, I like to begin by reviewing content around the area a student may be struggling with, to advance to work through exam style questions together to put this erudition into practise. I can set questions for students to complete before our next lesson to consolidate their understanding, which I can later explain in greater detail and provide solutions towards.
Furthermore, I realise that many students are not taught how to learn. For this reason I propose and promote an array of proven studying and revision techniques to improve your efficiency, memory retention and timings.
I have extensive experience teaching students between the ages of 9 and 18; across a diverse pool of gifted students, A Level & Oxbridge admissions preparation, to mature students looking to get back into education. If you have a specified preference for learning in a particular way, or just want to focus on a certain area (for example solely performing past paper questions) I am open to suggestions and can adapt my lessons accordingly.
Moreover, perhaps you may feel as if you have encountered a wall after facing an obdurate topic, I can help you by teaching you how to understand and recall the fundamental theory underpinning what you may be expected to know, and apply this to examination-style questions.
I welcome enthusiastic students who are captivated by the beguiling and staggering nature of the many subjects that they wish to pursue further, beyond the mere constraints of their specification or assessments. My primary aspiration is to cultivate an unyielding passion in all of my students.
