About Belinda

About Me

Hi, I'm Belinda, an experienced and passionate educator with over 25 years of experience in NSW public education.

Throughout my career, I've worked as a classroom teacher, Assistant Principal, Instructional Leader, Deputy Principal and Relieving Principal. These roles have given me extensive experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, building teacher expertise and helping children develop the skills and confidence to succeed.

I hold a Master of Education (Educational Leadership) and a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood), bringing together a strong understanding of how children learn with practical, evidence-based teaching strategies.

One of the things I enjoy most about teaching is seeing that moment when something finally clicks for a student. I believe learning should be engaging, achievable and rewarding, and that every child deserves to feel successful.

Having worked with students across a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and learning needs, I understand that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to education. I take the time to get to know each student, identify their strengths and challenges, and adapt my teaching to suit them.

As a parent myself, I also understand the challenges families face when balancing school, homework, extracurricular activities and everyday life. This is why I'm passionate about offering both individual tutoring and Homework Hangout, a small-group homework support program designed to make learning and homework less stressful for families.

My approach is warm, patient and encouraging, while maintaining high expectations and a strong focus on developing independent, confident learners.

My goal is simple: to help students feel capable, build confidence and experience success, both in the classroom and beyond.

About My Lessons

I believe every student can succeed when they feel supported, confident and understood.

With over 25 years of experience in education, including classroom teaching, instructional leadership and curriculum development, I bring extensive knowledge and practical teaching strategies to every tutoring session.

My lessons are personalised, engaging and designed to meet each student's individual learning needs, whether they need help catching up, consolidating their understanding or extending their skills.

Individual Tutoring

I offer personalised one-on-one tutoring tailored to each student's learning needs, focusing on:

English and Literacy: Reading, comprehension, spelling, grammar and writing.

Mathematics: Building number confidence, problem-solving skills and understanding mathematical concepts.

Homework and Assignments: Helping students understand tasks, organise their work and develop independent learning habits.

Study Skills: Developing effective learning routines, organisation and confidence.

NAPLAN Preparation: Strengthening essential literacy and numeracy skills and building familiarity with assessment questions.

Homework Hangout: Small Group Homework Support

I also offer Homework Hangout, a supportive small-group learning program designed to take the stress out of homework for students and families.

With a maximum of four students per session, Homework Hangout provides a relaxed but structured environment where students can bring their own school homework, assignments or learning tasks and receive guidance from an experienced teacher.

Each 90-minute session focuses on:

Completing and understanding school homework and assignments.

Developing independence, organisation and time-management skills.

Strengthening literacy and numeracy skills where needed.

Encouraging problem-solving, perseverance and confidence.

Building positive homework routines in a supportive small-group environment.

Homework Hangout sessions are $50 per student for 90 minutes, offering an affordable alternative to individual tutoring while still providing personalised teacher support.

My Teaching Approach

I take the time to understand each student's strengths, learning needs and areas for development. My teaching combines explicit instruction, guided practice, constructive feedback and encouragement.

My goal is not simply to help students complete their work, but to develop the knowledge, confidence and independence they need to succeed in the classroom.

I create a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and celebrating their progress.

Who Are My Lessons For?

I primarily support primary school students from Kindergarten to Year 6, with additional homework, assignment and study support available for secondary students.
