About Ting

Hi! I’m Ting, a dedicated and patient math tutor currently pursuing a Master of Teaching (Secondary) at Monash University, specializing in Mathematics and Accounting. I have nearly one year of experience as a numeracy tutor at a public school, where I provided individualised support to students struggling with numeracy, helping them build confidence and succeed in NAPLAN, school tests, and SACs. I have worked with Year 7 to Year 12 students, gaining extensive experience with the Victorian Curriculum, NAPLAN, General mathematics (VCE), and developing strategies to identify mathematical strengths and weaknesses. My teaching focuses on scaffolding concepts, targeted support, and making math more accessible and engaging by relating to our real-life. So far, I have helped over 20 students improve their math skills, including a Year 9 student who improved from 23% to 75%! My students enjoy my lessons and appreciate my supportive and encouraging approach. About the lesson

Our lessons will base on the Victorian Curriculum and serve as a supplement and enhancement to the mathematics courses taught at your school. I will tailor my teaching to align with each student's current learning progress, using homework checks, questioning, and diagnostic assessments to identify areas of weakness in your mathematical understanding.

My goal is to help students build a solid foundation in mathematics, deepen comprehension, and systematically connect different concepts, enabling students to develop a well-structured knowledge system and the ability to apply mathematical principles flexibly. This approach makes learning more efficient and enjoyable.

To achieve the best learning outcomes, I prefer face-to-face teaching, as it allows me to better assess students' understanding in real-time and adjust my teaching accordingly. Additionally, I recommend at least two lessons per week, combined with appropriate practice, to reinforce knowledge retention and ensure steady progress.
