About Xichen

Hi, everyone. My name is Xichen. (Jeff)

I am a native Mandarin speaker with 10 years of living experience in America(California and Oregon). I attended college back in California, majored in English Literature with Spanish as second major which I’ve been speaking for 6 years with a level of B2.

I teach students from age 8 to adults Chinese, Spanish and English for 2 years. I adhere to a very practical, efficient and entertaining teaching method. No matter you are an absolute beginner or quite an advanced speaker, I will customize the classes accordingly. Also, I have HSK books ready for you if you want to take the HSK exams.

My previous occupation is in logistics industry. I have the knowledge of international trade and commerce. Also, I am a well trained and certified medical interpreter back in the States. Medical terminology also comes in handy if you are interested.

What I can do for you is not just language itself. Any subject related to Chinese could probably fall into my scope of teaching. If your mother tongue is English or Spanish, I would definitely be a good choice for you.

About the lesson

Chinese for beginners:
1. Complete management of pinyin in 2-3 classes.
2. Full understanding of grammar for basic conversation in 4-5 classes
3. Ability for topic discussion in 10-15 classes.
4. Reading and writing ability will be developed along the way.
Note: all above will be accompanied by video materials and homeworks to practice at home.

Chinese for Children:
I am the father of a baby boy. He is the best gift to me in this world and learns Chinese with me every day. There are also kids whom I am teaching now. I definitely love to share my teaching experience with others.
1. Cartoons, videos and pictures will be provided as teaching materials to help them learn pinyin, greetings, characters and words and start conversations eventually.
2. A 2-3 minutes song will be played in the middle of the classes for relaxation.
3. Homework and periodic quizes will be assigned.
Principle: kids will never be bored if they have classes with me. Fun is what they will have while learning Chinese through a practical and efficient way.

Conversational Chinese:
I am a native speaker with an extroverted personality. I've been speaking Chinese for more than 30 years with the knowledge of most commonly used Chinese slangs.
1. 1-2 topics will be provided for discussion per class. The topics vary based on the needs of students. They
can be technical, professional or casual.
2. Topic-related words and slang will be taught during the classes.
3. Grammatical mistakes will be corrected without too much interference.
