About Rose
I am a classically trained pianist with a First-Class Bachelor’s degree from the Royal Northern College of Music and a First-Class Master’s degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I also hold the LTCL diploma with distinction and have been awarded first prizes in international competitions. I have extensive teaching experience, having worked with students aged 4 to 70, from complete beginners through to diploma level. My students have successfully prepared for ABRSM exams, GCSE music, and auditions for junior conservatoires, achieving excellent results. My teaching approach is friendly, warm, and encouraging. I am passionate about sharing music with others, helping each student find their musical voice and, above all, enjoy the process of making music.

My teaching is always tailored to the individual — no two students learn in exactly the same way, so I adapt my approach to suit each person’s age, ability, and musical goals. Whether you’re a complete beginner, preparing for ABRSM grades, GCSE Music, or working towards diploma-level study, I create a structured yet flexible plan to help you progress with confidence. A typical lesson may begin with warm-ups or technical exercises designed to build a solid foundation of technique and ease at the piano. We then move into repertoire, carefully chosen to match your level and interests, so that you’re not only developing skills but also enjoying the music you play. Alongside this, I often include improvisation exercises, which encourage creativity, develop aural skills, and help students build a more personal connection with the instrument. For those working towards exams, I integrate sight-reading, aural training, and theory seamlessly into lessons, ensuring well-rounded preparation without it ever feeling overwhelming. I believe lessons should be inspiring as well as educational. My goal is to help each student find their own musical voice, discover the joy of expression, and develop a love for music that lasts a lifetime. Whether you dream of performing on stage, passing exams with distinction, or simply playing for pleasure, I will support you with patience, enthusiasm, and clear guidance every step of the way.
