About Hong

Are you looking for engaging, fun, and high-quality piano lessons for your child?

I specialise in teaching children the art of piano, in a way that makes learning music both fun and rewarding. With 21 years of piano experience, and 9 years of teaching experience, I combine musical expertise with a patient, encouraging approach that helps kids thrive.

My background in paediatric development also gives me a strong understanding of how children learn best, and how to break down complex musical concepts for better understanding and retainment.

I offer personalised piano lessons for students of all ages and abilities — from complete beginners to advanced players.

About the lesson

My methodology is largely centred around personal enjoyment and satisfaction. I believe that one must enjoy what they are doing in order to succeed and excel. I hope to share my passion for music with students, while also introducing them to a wide variety of genres and styles.

Lessons include:
- Reading music and developing sight-reading skills
- Developing rhythm, coordination, and musical expression
- Classic or contemporary pieces suited to each child's interests
- Music theory & preparation for AMEB music theory exams
- Preparation for AMEB exams (Grades 1-6)

Hong is a very knowledgeable and kind piano teacher. She's very dedicated in helping me learn, very patient when I am struggling, and always willing to help me improve. I highly recommend her to anyone who wishes to improve or learn piano! Her teaching style is impeccable and I find myself surprised by how quickly I am able to learn. Trying to relearn piano may be a daunting experience, especially as a 35 year old myself, but nevertheless it is great with her.
