About Jane
I am a Teaching Professor in the Island Medical Program at UBC located in Victoria at UVic. I have over 20 years experience teaching medical students at UBC. I have also been teaching Nursing students, Athletic Therapy students, and Massage therapy students at Camosun College for over 10 years.
I have a PhD in Medical Genetics and over 20 years experience tutoring students in all subjects related to Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology, and others! My degrees are in Cell Biology & Genetics and Medical Genetics.
My passion is teaching and helping people understand the subjects that I love and find fascinating!

I have over 20 years experience teaching and tutoring medical students, nursing students, massage therapy students, and more at the University and College level.
My lessons are very active and require that you apply the knowledge you are gaining in a practical and useful way. The issue students often have when it comes to exams and that final grade, is that they don't practice answering questions out loud and working through things and making mistakes, but this is when we learn the most!
I create a safe space for you to be able to make mistakes, relate what you are learning to real-world situations and stories, and to get prepared for any test, midterm or final exam. I can help make the learning memorable.
I usually ask students to keep a list of topics and questions that they have and then I ask them to do their best to explain what they think the answer is. They're often surprised at how often they actually already know the answer!
We will work together to create your long-term knowledge through conversation, questions, and fun!
These sessions can be for any college or university level student in Biology courses (Anatomy & Physiology, Genetics, Cell Biology, etc.), in nursing, in massage therapy, in athletic therapy, in medicine or for anyone hoping to pursue any of these degrees in the future!
