About Elizabeth
I’m a qualified Art teacher with over 13 years’ experience teaching Art and Design, including seven years as a Head of Art. I have taught in both the UK and China and currently teach A-Level Fine Art, Graphics, Textiles and Photography.
Art has always been a huge part of my life, both professionally and personally. I’m an artist and creative practitioner myself, so I understand that studying Art is very different from studying a purely academic subject. Sometimes students don’t need someone to give them the answers, they need someone who can look at their work with fresh eyes, ask the right questions and help them see where their ideas could go next.
Over the years I have taught students with a wide range of abilities, interests and levels of confidence. I particularly enjoy helping students who feel stuck, unsure where to take a project next, or overwhelmed by the amount of work they need to complete. I have a track record of raising attainment. My approach is encouraging, constructive and honest, with practical advice that students can actually act upon.
I believe the strongest Art portfolios are those that retain the personality and interests of the individual student. My role is to help students develop their ideas, improve their technical and analytical skills, and become more confident and independent in their creative decision-making.
Above all, I want my students to enjoy making Art and to feel proud of the work they produce.
As well as being a teacher who is passionate about her subject, I am also a mum to two wonderful children, and I enjoy cooking, dancing and kayaking in my spare time.

My lessons are tailored to the individual student and the project they are working on. I aim to help students develop their own ideas and artistic voice rather than simply telling them what to produce. We can work together on everything from generating and developing initial ideas to experimenting with materials, refining practical work and creating a strong final outcome.
I can also provide focused support with sketchbook development, artist research, contextual analysis and annotation, coursework, exam preparation and portfolio development. If a student is feeling stuck or overwhelmed by a project, I can help them identify what is working, what may be missing and create a clear, manageable plan for moving their work forward.
As a practising Art teacher, I understand the requirements of GCSE and post-16 Art courses and can help students understand how to demonstrate their creative process effectively while still producing work that feels genuinely individual to them.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although I can also offer one-off portfolio/sketchbook consultations for students who would like feedback and guidance on an existing body of work.

My online lessons are primarily aimed at GCSE, A-Level and IB students, whether they are looking for regular tuition, help developing a particular project, support in the run-up to an exam or deadline, or an experienced second pair of eyes on their portfolio.
