About Matty
I am a Zoology graduate and an experienced secondary school science teacher, currently working as Second in Science at my school. I have several years of experience teaching across KS3, GCSE, and A-level, with a strong track record of helping students improve their grades and build confidence in science. As both a subject specialist and practising classroom teacher, I understand the challenges students face and the requirements of the curriculum. I combine my academic background with effective teaching strategies to make lessons engaging, supportive, and focused on achieving results. My lessons are designed to build both knowledge and confidence in science. I begin each session by identifying areas where the student needs the most support, then tailor explanations and activities to their learning style. I use clear step-by-step methods, real-life examples, and exam-style questions to make sure students not only understand the content but can also apply it effectively in assessments. For GCSE and A-level students, I place a strong focus on exam preparation — including practising past papers, breaking down mark schemes, and developing revision techniques. For younger learners at KS3, lessons are more interactive and aimed at building curiosity and a strong foundation in science. Every lesson ends with a short review and a clear plan for what to work on next, so students feel a sense of progress. My goal is to make science approachable, engaging, and achievable for all learners.
