About Joanna
My mother told me I was born to sing and am passionate about it. Although my background is as a Classical Singer, I am very eclectic in my music taste and was brought up singing many styles incorporating Classical, Music Theatre, Jazz, Contemporary, Pop, Folk, and Country and Western. It is a fact that when you sing, it releases chemicals to the brain that make one happy so, I guess, I have always been happy! I originally trained as a teacher and music specialist then, opportunity arose, and I was able to use my vocal gift to have a high-profile career in Opera. This was not only in Australia, but all around the world! I also was awarded many scholarships and awards and was humbled to represent Australia, my country, in International Vocal Competitions. After much traveling, I returned to Australia 16 years ago and decided to add to my academic study. I gained a Masters in Music at the University of Melbourne in 2014. I have had the pleasure of working with brilliant and inspirational vocal teachers/conductors and vocal coaches over many years, and am now passing onto the younger generation of singers in my studio, my vocal skills and encouragement. Over the last 7 years, I have utilized my extensive knowledge of how to sing and how to uncover your true vocal sound by giving masterclasses, vocal lessons, and guiding/mentoring vocal students to achieve their personal singing goals. They have all done wonderful work and I am continually proud of their achievements. It would give me great pleasure to add to my studio of aspiring singers. I have limited spaces and scholarships available and would love to hear from anyone who is passionate about singing or, just having fun and wanting to learn more about their unique voice.
