About Morgan
Hi there! Thanks for checking out my profile
Let me introduce myself: I’m a former Software Development Engineer at Amazon and a proud alumnus of UBC. Recently, I decided to leave my role to pursue my passion for business and teaching.
I’ve been tutoring science, math, and coding-related subjects privately since I was in Grade 12. Along the way, I’ve gained hands-on experience as a software engineering co-op student at various companies. At university, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for multiple terms, helping students master data structures and algorithms, software engineering, and operating systems. I’ve also contributed to research in human-computer interaction, culminating in the publication of a research paper.
I’m fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, and I can teach in these languages comfortably. I'm also fine with teaching in Japanese too but I'm still far from fluent.

I design my tutoring sessions to be highly interactive and tailored to the needs of each student. During our time together, students are encouraged to ask questions about the concepts they find challenging. We’ll start by reviewing the concept thoroughly to build a strong foundation, followed by working through small, focused examples to reinforce understanding.
Practice and Application
Toward the end of each session, I provide practice materials specifically designed to solidify the concepts covered. We’ll work through these exercises together to ensure the student has mastered the topic and can confidently apply what they’ve learned.
Guided Learning for New Subjects
For students who are eager to explore new subjects independently, I offer recurring lecture-style sessions. In these sessions, I guide students step by step through the material, ensuring they develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Teaching Philosophy
Teaching is incredibly rewarding to me, especially when I can help students experience "aha" moments with difficult concepts. My approach focuses on clarifying challenging ideas through a variety of examples, real-world applications, and promoting a deep theoretical understanding. My goal is to create an engaging and supportive learning environment where students feel empowered to achieve their goals.
