About Rachel

Hey there! My name is Rachel, or many also call me by the fun names of Raquel, Rach, Señorita, or even Títí Tochi (the last one has a fun story within my family ;-) ). I’m originally from the States, but have had the privilege of being a global citizen in traveling to various continents over the last ten years. Throughout the last decade, I’ve embraced the roles of both student and teacher in the arts and languages. I’ve taught young adults film photography and darkroom techniques and introduced international boarding school students to the Spanish language. Having had the privilege of taking a gap year after high school for global (and personal) exploration, and as someone preparing to further study the Spanish language and culture, I deeply value an educational approach that adapts to the learner’s unique pace. I believe education comes in many forms, and I’m passionate about creating personalized learning experiences that honor each student’s individual rhythm and style. Beyond teaching, I’m deeply invested in a variety of passions, including sports and movement (i.e. running, swimming, yoga, and recently, kickboxing!), film photography, psychology, watercolor painting, writing, storytelling, and alternative photographic printing processes like cyanotypes. I'm excited to support you in discovering, nurturing, and expanding your Spanish language skills, while integrating your passions in an engaging and multidisciplinary way!

About the lesson

When diving into one of my Spanish language lessons, we'll explore the following (dependent on your level and needs of course!):

~ basics of Spanish grammar (i.e. articles, conjunctions, sentence structures, forming questions, etc.)

~ practicing listening comprehension through both conversation and listening to various forms of audio (i.e. parts of songs, movies, tv shows, etc.)

~ exploring how cultures around the globe, especially in Latin America and Spain, play a role in evolving the Spanish language

~ discovering the definition of your own “Spanish accent”

~ how to make use of your Spanish language knowledge in practical, everyday ways!

~ fun ways to learn and recall the MANY patterns of verb conjugation

These lessons are best suited for youth ages 11-17, or adults who are just starting to learn the Spanish language.

Ultimately, through my lessons, we will connect, collaborate, and co-create to support you in bringing your Spanish language skills to the next level. :-)
