  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I did not learn Spanish nor through my origins or traditional school, However when I was 12 years old i moved to Spain and I learned Spanish through immersing myself in the culture and speaking to Spanish people. In the first six months my grammar was basic but I was able to adapt easily and then after English boarding school, my amazing A-level Spanish teacher inspired me to learn more about Spain history geography, and politics while mastering my grammar and vocabulary.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

A historical figure that represents the Spanish language for me is Pablo Picasso one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. My favourite piece that he created is El Toro as it symbolises his Spanish identity although he moved to France to fleet the Civil War, the artists Spanish heritage remained prominent in his works.
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

I love the concept of Sobremesa, which describes the time people spend talking around the table after a meal it encourages slowing down and taking time to appreciate moments with family and friends. I also find the greeting with two kisses interesting as it is very common to say Encanto and give two kisses. I find this very friendly and allows people to connect easily.
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

It is the third most spoken language and connects people from all around. Having a second language is essential in today’s day and age and gives money work benefits socially and able to relate to other people. It is not only Spain however central and South America dominate spanish too.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

Tenses are a part of the Spanish language that I have struggled with and finally mastered as there are so many variations of the tenses and it is hard to differentiate each one however practising using a variety and not being afraid to make mistakes helps the process of learning, however mastering and understanding went to use each one is the key to understanding it.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

When I first moved from England to Spain, I barely spoke any Spanish. I remember going into shops and being nervous as I didn’t know how to ask what I wanted now I can have full conversations study Spanish literature and tutor Spanish looking back, it’s amazing to see how much I’ve improved.
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Me moving to Spain was the biggest help to improve my Spanish before moving to Spain. I was I struggled a lot with grasping concepts and my teacher was not amazing therefore I was not motivated to learn it. However immersing myself into the Spanish culture allowed me to understand and want to learn the language.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

I’m a friendly and patient tutor who focuses on making language learning practical, enjoyable and confidence-building. I like to get students speaking as much as possible, while also helping them improve their grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. I adapt my lessons to each student’s level, interests and goals, whether they want to improve their conversation skills, prepare for exams or simply become more comfortable using the language.
