About Ragna
Hi! I'm Ragna, and I'm thrilled to share my passion for surfing with you. For me, catching waves is the ultimate way to recharge, and I'm dedicated to helping you discover that same stoke. I'm a down-to-earth and enthusiastic instructor, and seeing your face light up with accomplishment at the end of a lesson is what it's all about. As an adult who learned to surf later in life, I genuinely appreciate the challenges of building foundational skills and developing the physical and mental fortitude to progress. Surfing has been incredibly beneficial for my mental health, and I'm excited to help others experience that profound connection to the ocean. While I grew up in Germany, my heart always belonged to the coast. It wasn't until I moved to Australia that I finally found my calling in surfing. These days, you'll often find me at the beach with my surfboard and my two kids, who are now confident riders too! I'm especially committed to empowering women and girls to feel strong and confident in the waves.

Hoping to take your surfing to the next level?
With over a decade of experience coaching adults and kids, starting right on Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs Beaches, I've had the pleasure of guiding countless individuals and groups. While all sessions are rewarding, I've found that small groups of 3-4 people offer the perfect blend of personalized attention and a fun, supportive atmosphere in a likeminded group.
My main goal is for you to have a blast and gain valuable skills that extend beyond the waves. It's amazing to see how regularly surfing not only boosts confidence in the ocean but also in daily life. There's nothing quite like a morning surf to cultivate a positive mindset for the day ahead!
Safety is paramount in all my lessons. We'll only head out when conditions are safe, and you'll learn essential ocean knowledge, including how to identify rips and currents. I'll make sure you're confident with all the basics before we paddle out, and we can always refresh them if needed. We'll also set a clear goal for each session to help you focus on what you want to achieve.
I offer 1-2 hour lessons and half-day women's clinics (minimum 4 participants), which incorporate elements of mindfulness and mobility.
My lessons are designed for healthy surfers aged 12-99 who have completed beginner lessons and are ready to confidently paddle out the back. Ideally you have your own board-you want to improve on your board-not on mine! If you're looking to improve your wave selection, catch more and bigger waves, and truly step up your surfing, I'm here to help. I foster a fun and relaxed environment in the water, and your enjoyment is my top priority. I'll always be upfront about the conditions and will never let you paddle out if it's dangerous or too flat. To ensure you progress on your own equipment, please bring your own gear. My daughter loves her lessons with Ragna. She is able to adapt to different styles of kids and give them advice that helps them get to the next level. For my kid, Ragno is helping her choose surf spots and to move to independent surfing.
I've been to a couple of Ragna's surf coaching sessions. It is always fantastic to go out with someone who is an excellent surfer and can help take some of the guesswork out about where to sit, things to look out for etc. I always feel that I improve after one of the sessions and get lots more waves than usual! In addition, the goal setting and post surf debriefs are very valuable and really help with some of the more psychological aspects of surfing... and life! Thanks Ragna

Details
I do not provide boards or wetsuits as this is not a learn-to-surf session. You need to bring your own board and wetsuit! I teach you how to get unbroken waves, selecting waves, start turning and improve your getting up. I will teach you how to read swell forcast and how to find out which beaches are good if you are travelling.
The first lesson I only charge for 30 min, usually sessions are 60 min
