About Cheryl
Success in the classroom is a very personal goal. Too often students worry about how they compare to other students or some other extrinsic metric. The most important part of any academic endeavor is the journey along the way. The skills each student acquires, in their own time, will help them to ensure future success. I see myself merely as a coach helping them to boost confidence, providing alternative ways of comprehension, and teaching new skills so that each student forges their way to the next step.
I have always loved life science. From the time my Biology teacher first taught me about human anatomy, I've had a passion and respect for living things. Teaching was an integral part of my career. Feeling the energy from students who came to understand, appreciate, and love the same content was always a truly inspiring moment.

Hi! My name is Cheryl and I have over 20 years of experience teaching biological sciences. I have taught online and in-person and look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals.
My typical lesson involves a review of the previous topic followed by in-depth instruction on the current topic. The instruction would involve content and visual accompaniment. The wrap-up of the lesson concludes with a look at the homework and answering student questions.
My tutoring is geared toward students in grades 9-12, in subjects Biology, Advanced Biology or IB Biology. I have always run a student-centered classroom with a focus on student wellness and success, and this sets me apart as an educator. I believe in each student's independent academic journey.
