I find her teaching approach very helpful as she could guide you through any technique and even help you get inspired at times when you feel you creativity is absent. She can, metaphorically speaking, take your hand and walk with you back to the place of your own imagination... full of ideas. I have been taking Tesia’s painting workshop on an ongoing basis for years now. I love it! Not only is it just plain fun, I have learned so many amazing painting skills from Tesia. She is an incredible wealth of painting knowledge. I can come up with any sort of hair-brained concept, and she is at-the-ready with direction on how I can accomplish my end result. She really knows her stuff! And, when I really botch my execution, she always knows how to get me out of my painting conundrum and back on track! So helpful. So patient. Such a great teacher. I have taken a number of workshops from Tesia, and been part of an ongoing mentorship group. Tesia is knowledgeable, fun, observant, open-minded, and entirely non-judgmental. She offers a wealth of information about how to do interesting, new, and fundamentally useful (or not!) things to build on. She shows us things to try so we can experience how they work, and sometimes introduces work of other artists for reference. Tesia sees each person where their own interest and experience is; she inquires about process and goals, offers practical information (brushes, color mixing, composition, types of paint and mediums), and challenges one's thinking and one's limits.

Tesia also has extraordinary knowledge of practical and technical aspects of the materials, which is important for knowing how materials will behave, what is possible, and what will hold up over time.

I meet with Tesia as part of a small group. We are all interested in expanding our painting skills and exploring the expressive possibilities of abstract painting. Tesia is a great blend of technician, counselor and coach. She begins each class with either a painting demonstration, art history lesson or graphic representation of a formal painting concept. We’re treated as professionals and pushed to define our artistic goals. And it’s fun!
