About Ally

I have been a working actor since childhood and feel very connected to the knowledge I have to share. It allows me to coach from the perspective of an actor and not just a director and teacher. Having the first hand experience of being in an audition room, on set and on stage is important to me so I can use my own experiences to help grow others! I work differently with each of my students. My job is too explore what works for each individual specifically so they are pushed and challenged to reaching their full potential.

I am currently the resident director at Class Act Community Playhouse in Woodland Hills. I direct youth, teen and adult shows there as well as privet coaching and workshop classes.

I am also the acting coach at Covina High school. I coach kids for DTASC (Drama Teachers Association of Southern California) Which is a drama competition where students 6-12 can compete in different preforming arts categories for scholarships. My kids won their category last year! I also get high schoolers ready for college auditions if they are choosing to follow a performance path!

I get to create! Nothing brings me more joy then watching my students explore and grow within themselves. It's exciting to watch breakthrough's happen, to see confidence build and see success come from hard work! It's a rewarding process, I am always inspired by my students, they make me a better artist myself and I get to learn from watching them learn from me!

Right out of college I started to look for jobs that could fulfill me artistically when I wasn't preforming. I started assisting at a children's theater company found great fulfillment in sharing and teaching what I love so much with kids! Five years later I still love teaching and I am now the resident director at a theater where I direct shows that range in age from kids to adults. I also do privet coaching there and I am the acting coach at Covina High school.

I have a BFA in Musical Theater, from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.

I grew up working in LA theater as well and TV and film and I feel the best training is "doing". Although I am a teacher and director I still audition and preform myself and being able to relate to my students in that was is important to me. I would never teach someone something I wouldn't or haven't done myself!

About the lesson

Talk through the material they are working on, Is is for an audition? Are there sides for a callback or audition that we are trying to work through? Is it for stage or screen? Are we working on a specific show or character?

I use different techniques depending on what needs to be worked on a specific piece. I will always talk through the script, then decide how the texts needs to be worked. Could be starting with an imagery or emotional exercise to work into a character, Who, where, why, objectives. If it's something simple like commercial sides, working on who are we selling to, how are we presenting ourselves in relation to the product. sting natural and authentic...

Pricing can very, and I am willing to work with people but,Usually for an hour lesson I charge $75 minimum, anything less than that is $60 and anything over an hour is $1 a minuet.
